BOATS, BEACHES AND BAR CIRCUIT!
Discounted internet tour: USD$1599.00 per person!
What
better way to celebrate than with the Greek Gods who have celebrated
5 millenniums already!! This exciting sailing tour highlights the bar
scene in Greece which has developed the reputation of being the wildest
in the world. The tour operates only in August and is an island hoping
pub crawl for guests under 40 years of age. It will be conducted aboard
an Atlantic 49 -a modern sloop with four private double cabins with
private washroom facilities (a floating motel!). Singles, couples and
the gay scene is welcome!
SPECIAL 7 DAY TOUR US$1599.00
Including fuel and skipper, no meals, base on 8-10 guests minimum. Price
is per person and does not include airfare.
THE YACHT DEPARTS LAVRION OLYMPIC MARINA (60 KMS FROM ATHENS)
OR FROM IOS (BY WAY OF SANTORINI) FOR THE FOLLOWING STOPS:
KEA: 1 NIGHT (a three hour sail on Saturday afternoon)
Arriving late we enjoy a welcoming dinner at O Nikos Taverna and then
party on the yacht steps from the restaurant. There is also a night
club in the harbour for a drink or several beautiful Greek bars up at
the hilltop town Ioulis -a taxi ride away. This night is best spent
shaking off jet-lag and getting ready for the real party to come!
MYKONOS:
2 NIGHTS (a long day sail of 60 miles 8 hours)
Arriving at the golden beach of Ornos Bay we jump in and cool off. Dinner
is spent on the shore at Porto Ornos Taverna before setting of for a
wild night beginning at the Down Under Bar -wear white as you will glow
in the dark! Next is the best disco in Mykonos the renowned Scandinavian
Bar, where you can dance all night on the air conditioned dance
floor to a world beat -with travellers from a round the world! Scandinavian
is made up of three different bars and an outdoor terrace with friendly
waiters Bobby, Lefteris and Yannis serving the tables outside. For the
gay scene check out Pierros, the most well known gay bar on the planet
along with a myriad of others! Other great bars include; Caprice a classy,
musically hip cocktail bar along the Little Venice boardwalk where the
waves splash up against the windows and entrance. The Anchor and Seven
Sins bars are also fun local Mykonos watering holes. There are dozens
more to choose from. The end of the night is entertaining as the winding
labyrinth of Mykonos town can be even more confusing when youve
had a few drinks. The bus stops at 02:00 but taxis bring weary sailors
back to Ornos at all hours! The next day wake and visit the world famous
Super Paradise Beach by small fishing boat, bus, moped or rag top jeep.
All options are available from Ornos. Super
Paradise offers a nice narrow beach with bars and restaurants all along
it. Excellent people watching -most are partly naked! Optionally, stay
at Ornos which is actually a nicer golden beach, is less crowded and
less party oriented. At Ornos beach watch out for Dimitri the beach
kamaki (oldest male profession in Greece) who spends more time
chatting up the girls than collecting money for the umbrellas! The yacht
is moored for both days 30 meters off the beautiful beach so for real
privacy and sun tanning stay aboard and listen to a few CDs! Night
two do what you didnt do on night one -or do it again! A good
choice for dinner is Nikos Taverna the best Greek food in Mykonos town.
PAROS: 2 NIGHTS (4 hours sail south)
After tying up at Paroikia port, wander around the bay for a swim before
drinks time aboard. Dinner is at Barca Rosa where
they make wood burning oven, thin crust pizzas and excellent pastas
and salads. The party night begins at Black Barts cafe where you can
sit and watch the masses move by on the boardwalk. At midnight we head
down the road to the Dubliner Bar which consists of seven bars including,
Hard Rock Paros and a rave bar. The centre of the Dubliner is an open
air courtyard with five bars off the open square. The Scandinavian bar
(where women are invited to bare their breasts for a free shot -quite
popular!), the Ozzie Bar, the Greek bar and the Irish bar which features
an air-conditioned dance floor with international D.J. Night two deja-vu!
IOS: 2 NIGHTS (6 hours sail south)
Ios is recognised, by those who know, as being the largest single night-life
location in the world. It offers more bars and raving partiers than
the Algarve and Spring Break in Florida combined! With over 300 bars
in the small chora (hilltop town) above the harbour, there is definitely
something for everyone. There are thousands of drunken young people
that visit each summer on their tour through the islands. Ios is a hang
out, a meeting place and a place to work for a summer of fun. It is
also home of the longest and finest beaches of the Aegean sea -Milopotas
which is packed with young sun worshippers (make sure to visit the Far
Out Camping, a shangrila on Ios with two pools, water slides, basketball,
scuba diving and the most abusive English barman in existence - Cookie
of Cookies Bar. Manganari is the other fantastic beach which is 1.5
kilometres of golden sand and is a more relaxed and off the beaten trail.
Our first night on Ios enjoy a fine California
style Greek dinner at Lord Byrons Taverna then head to the square where
the action begins each night. Starting at Ios Blue where manager Yannis
and D.J. Fotis welcome guests as regular patrons with a shot of Sambuka
or Jagermeister. The dance floor is always packed with partiers from
all over the world; Scandinavia, Germany, England, South Africa, Australia,
and North America but the largest single visitors are the lovable Irish.
Early
in the season there are so many Irish that the word Ios could stand
for Irish Over Seas! Right beside Ios Blue is the famous
Red Bull Bar which is as packed and barman Giorgos welcomes dancing
on the bar. Next stop is Flames bar where Nicholas an Elizabeth, from
Sweden, are ready to mix your favourite drinks. These three bars and
the square in general, are a great place to meet singles as you are
forced to be social -being crammed so close together! Greece has a wonderful
way of letting inhibitions disappear and friendships begin. If the bar
man notices that you are getting to close, he might try to cool things
off with spray whipped cream! Other bars worth mentioning are the Zulu
(where visitors must watch that their eyebrows dont get singed
from the fire juggling and fire spitting competition the Austrian bar
men put on each night), the world famous Slammer Bar where patrons are
invited to drink 5 ounces of tequila mixed with seven up and get whacked
several times over the head with a rubber mallet (participants are offered
a gimmicky football helmet and a padded jacket for minimal protection
from the whaling). The Dubliner is the next stop on the way down to
the bigger discos. Dubliner is a half open air sports bar with two dance
floors several bars and a good Irish atmosphere. The next stop is a
must see,Sweet Irish Dream , an institution in Ios usually gets going
at around 02:00. It is the home of table dancing as all
the tables are made out of thick cement -specifically for that purpose.
The objective is to get a table then invite and haul up whomever you
fancy! Tables can accommodate six. After this exciting, table dirty-dancing
it is time to move on to the real discos along the road to the beach.
First stop is the Mojo Club which is open air and features good new
age music then the evening continues at the infamous Scorpions Bar which
is a techno bar with mind blowing laser lights. Both latter bars can
accommodate over 300 patrons. When you leave Scorpions it is 06:00 and
the sun is up. Time for bed or the beach! Night two can be a repeat
of night one at Ios -if you have the energy? SANTORINI (30 to 90 minute
ferry ride).
Guests disembark the yacht on morning 8 and visit Santorini by ferry.
It
is possible to book a room for a day or two to see the Santorini sites.
Santorini is the most beautiful of the Greek islands as it is a six
mile round ancient volcanic crater. It is the island that is associated
with the myth of the lost civilisation of Atlantis. It is a good idea
to rent a car and explore a little. The black sand beach of Perissa
is a great way to relax or just enjoy the swimming pool at the guest
house. It is important to catch the sunset at charming Ia at the north
west tip of the island -some cheese and a bottle of wine are a good
idea. There are many restaurants and the night-life usually begins at
the Blue Note Bar which is a well known international watering hole.
Walk the winding streets and take in the Ozzie Bar and the breath taking
view off the cliffs of Thira, then dance at Enigma or Koo Club, both
are larger discos.
These tours are unique in the industry and will
only be offered in August. They begin at either Lavrion or at Ios. They
are one way sailings and guests must make their own way to and from
the departure and disembarkation points. Please refer to the Aegean
Adventure Sailing Cruises for details on the boats, weather,
meals, role of the clients (Guests are the crew of the yachts) and reservation
details.
Flight, hotel and land tour arrangements can be booked through our office.
An additional USD$150.00 will allow two nights accommodations at either
end of the tour Athens or Santorini.
